Find a court

  • If you are in Auckland, check the Pickleball Auckland website (https://www.pickleballauckland.nz/ for court locations and session schedules, including those specifically for beginners.
  • Local Parks and Community Centers:
    Many parks and community centers in Auckland are now equipped with pickleball courts.
  • The New Zealand Pickleball association has information on where you can play for all areas of New Zealand.

Get the equipment

Key Rules and Tips for Beginners

  • Serve: The serve must be underhand, and the ball must be hit below the waist.
  • Bounce: Each team must let the ball bounce once before hitting it (after the serve).
  • Kitchen: The area near the net is called the "kitchen," and you cannot volley (hit the ball before it bounces) in the kitchen.
  • Non-Volley Zone: The serve must clear the non-volley zone line.
  • Footwork: Practice moving around the court efficiently, focusing on lateral and forward movement.
